Research Day

Queen's University Anesthesiology Research Day is an annual event that consists of biomedical research presentations by trainees (residents, students and fellows) affiliated with the Queen's Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine. Presentations are judged by a visiting professor and two Queen’s Faculty. Prizes are awarded for excellence of trainee presentations and the visiting professor delivers a keynote address. Typically held in the spring of each year, Research Day highlights the conclusion to our academic year.

47th Annual Queen’s Anesthesiology Resident Research Day

The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine is pleased to announce the 47th Annual Queen’s Anesthesiology Resident Research Day, taking place on April 17, 2026, at the Donald Gordon Conference Centre.

This annual event showcases the breadth and quality of scholarly work being conducted by anesthesiology residents at Queen’s University. Research Day provides an opportunity for residents to present original research, quality improvement initiatives, and innovative projects that advance clinical practice, education, and patient care. The event also serves as a forum for academic exchange, mentorship, and collaboration across the department and broader medical community.

The day will feature resident presentations, faculty engagement, and discussions highlighting the role of research and innovation in perioperative and critical care medicine. We look forward to celebrating the achievements of our trainees and the collaborative culture that supports their work.

Visiting Professor

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Angela Jerath as the Visiting Professor for the 47th Annual Queen’s Anesthesiology Resident Research Day.

Dr. Angela Jerath

Dr. Jerath is an academic cardiac anesthesiologist and trained cardiovascular intensivist based at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on evaluating and implementing innovative models of critical care and surgical care delivery, and examining their impact on patient- and health‑system outcomes using clinical epidemiology and translational research methods.

Her work has been supported by funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and she holds a Canada Research Chair in Acute Care Health Technology and Practice Innovations.
